When you arrive at our clinic, the staff will greet you and bring you to a private room where you will meet Dr. Burka. He’ll take a look at your situation, listen to your goals/concerns, and answer any questions you may have.
From there, Dr. Burka will prescribe a solution that will help you get your natural hair back (and keep it!) Schedule your consultation here.
Is hair restoration permanent?
Hair restoration procedures like hair transplants (both FUE and FUT) are permanent. The reason for this is that your donor hair (taken from the back of your head between the ears) is resistant to hair loss.
There are other treatments available which are designed to help you keep the hair you currently have. These include Rogaine/Propecia and PRP therapy.
Am I a good candidate for hair restoration?
Most men qualify for some form of hair restoration treatment. However, some men are not ideal candidates for hair transplant procedures like FUE and FUT. The reason for this is usually that their hair loss is too advanced and their donor area is too small.
The best way to determine whether you are a candidate for hair restoration is to schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Burka. You can do that by clicking here.
Is hair restoration painful?
Most patients report very little or no pain whatsoever. The procedure is minimally invasive, and a local anesthetic is used to ensure maximum comfort.
Will I be awake during the procedure?
Yes. You will spend the afternoon watching movies or using your phone while we move healthy follicles from the back and sides of your head (donor region) to the areas of need. With the local anesthetic we administer, there should be minimal pain and discomfort.
How long will the procedure take?
The length of hair restoration procedures varies, and depends on how many hair follicles you need transplanted.
Generally speaking, the procedure starts early morning and lasts through the afternoon. We build in time for meals, snacks, and breaks.
How long is the recovery?
There’s really no “down time” associated with the procedure. Although you can go back to work right away, many patients opt to take a day or two off before returning to work. The donor and recipient area is generally back to normal within 5-7 days.
When will my hair begin to grow in?
Most patients will see hair growth begin in months 3-4. By month 6 most patients see about half of their total growth, with the balance filling in within the 1 year mark.
How much does hair restoration cost?
The cost of your procedure will depend on the amount of hair loss, your restoration goals, and the procedure you elect (FUE or FUT). This will all be assessed during your consultation, and a firm, no-BS quote will be given.
I was very pleased with my experience at Mane Center. It was great to be treated with professionalism. Doctor Burka and his wonderful team made me feel safe and even made me smile although I was extremely anxious.

Dr. Burka is very knowledgeable and honest. This is refreshing in the hair industry. He did a great job with my transplant (I added the robot option). I could not recommend him further.

Dr. Burka and his staff did an amazing job of explaining all of the options for hair restoration and the pros/cons of each. They listened to my questions and needs and helped design a specific treatment plan without prescribing or forcing any specific procedure. Additionally Dr. Burka responded to my email questions prior to choosing to work with him. Highly recommend just for a consultation and certainly for any treatment as well.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience from start to finish. Initially, I consulted with 7 different hair transplant clinics in the NoVa/DMV area and felt that Dr. Burka was the most understanding and least salesy. During our initial free in-person consultation, he really took the time to listen to my unique situation and carefully explain all my options to achieve my goals (In comparison, most others offered virtual or rushed in-person consultations with cookie-cutter recommendations of ~2000 graft FUE and no supplementary treatments). Further, Dr. Burka’s holistic approach – including medication and specialized Alma TED treatments prior to the surgery – have really improved the efficacy of my hair transplant. Even if you live farther away from his clinic (I live ~45mins away) you won’t regret the extra travel time. Now about the hair transplant itself: I did a 4500 graft FUT which is relatively more gnarly with the incision. Dr. Burka was very meticulous, and his team ensured I was comfortable throughout the day and felt as little pain as possible. The techs who harvested then placed the grafts clearly knew exactly what they were doing and were very friendly. They actually harvested more grafts than we anticipated, but didn’t rush anything and stayed until past 7pm to make sure everything went smoothly and all the grafts were placed correctly. Everyone involved was super professional and went above & beyond to make sure I was comfortable and that I’d get the best results possible. My followup appointments for the first hair wash & stitches removal went smoothly since Dr. Burka provided very clear instructions that I followed. I’m about 3 weeks post-surgery now and everything seems to be going according to plan. I was expecting more shedding of the newly implanted grafts at this stage, but the ALMA TED treatment I got on Dr. Burka’s recommendation seems to have minimized the shedding. I’m very grateful for his uniquely well-informed advice (no other clinic in the area provided me this insight) and look forward to seeing results gradually over the coming months.Last but not least – Dr. Burka’s team is super talented and friendly. Sarah and Valerie are awesome and make me feel welcome every appointment. I can’t thank you all enough for helping me restore my hair and confidence. I look forward to coming for routine checkups in the following months!
